On Friday, Nov. 12 Olivet University's E-library was dedicated as the William Carey Library in honor of the legendary English Protestant missionary William Carey, known as "the father of modern missions."
University President Dr. David J. Jang emphasized that the library will be used to advance Christian mission, and that its resources should eventually be made publicly available worldwide.
"We hope to grow to become the most comprehensive repository of Christian information and resources," said Dr. Tom J. Cowley, Director of William Carey Library.
Library developers are planning to acquire 20,000 books, 24,000 articles, 3,400 streamable sermons, 660 vintage photos and 19,000 paintings during the E-library's first stage of development for initial use by Olivet faculty, students, and staff.
